Volleyball Tour Details
Location: Costa Rica

*Airport transfers are included and arranged for students who arrive and depart on the designated days. If students wish to extend their stay on either end of the trip, they are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the hotel.

ACCOMMODATIONS
All hotel stays are in 3- to 4-star hotels. Participants will share a room with another traveler, however, every participant will have their own bed.
PAYMENT
CAPACITY
This tour is capped at 24 student-athletes. Individuals are encouraged to register as soon as they are ready to guarantee their spot.
There is not a cap for any family and friends who are interested in joining the tour.
A $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot for the tour. The deposit deadline is February 1st, 2024.
The remaining balance is paid in a series of installments. Partial payments can be made at your convenience prior to the deadline.

ROSTER SIZE
This tour will have two rosters of 12 student-athletes. Each roster will play three exhibition competitions. Playing time will be divided up evenly among players.

Tour Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival in San Jose! Connect with Beyond Sports staff at the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and transfer to the hotel. Free time to explore before welcome dinner in the evening. Overnight in San Jose.
DAY 2
Morning tour orientation and practice session. Afternoon community service activity leading a sports clinic for local youth before Match #1 in the evening. Overnight in San Jose.
DAY 3
Morning tour of downtown San Jose; visiting the National Church, National Theater and artisan's market for souvenirs. Afternoon community service activity at local public school in San Jose before Match #2 in the evening. Overnight in San Jose.
DAY 4
Morning hike at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens followed by a visit to a wildlife animal sanctuary. Afternoon transfer to the world renowned Arenal Volcano. Evening at Baldi Resort and Hot Springs enjoying an all-you-can-eat buffet and 33 natural mineral water hot springs. Overnight in La Fortuna.
DAY 5
Morning free time to explore the beautiful town of La Fortuna at the base of Arenal Volcano before a cultural workshop at a local coffee and cacao farm. Afternoon departure for Hotel Punta Leona on the Pacific Coast with a pit stop at Tarcoles River and the famous 'crocodile bridge' for pictures before arriving at the beach. Overnight in Playa Blanca.
DAY 6
Leisure day to enjoy the amenities at Hotel Punta Leona––white sand beaches, nature trails, sports facilities, pool, and more! Afternoon beach volleyball tournament with your teammates followed by a trip to the nearby beach town of Jaco for optional surf lessons. Overnight in Playa Blanca.
DAY 7
Morning zip-lining excursion through the canopy of the rainforest at a nearby adventure park. Afternoon free time to relax at the pool or beach. Overnight in Playa Blanca.
DAY 8
Morning return to San Jose followed by Match #3. Farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight in San Jose.
DAY 9
Departure day! Depart Costa Rica with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!
The final itinerary may change slightly based on the confirmed game schedule. We will do our best to follow this exact itinerary.

Accept Your Invitation
If you received an invitation from your coach, you can accept your invite and begin registration. If you did not receive an invite, but you are interested in joining the tour, please complete our tour application.

Register & Deposit
When you are ready to commit to the tour, submit your $250 deposit to reserve your spot. The full cost of the tour is not due immediately. Payment deadlines are outlined above and in registration.
3.
Begin Travel Prep
Once registered, your tour coordinator will connect with you to share pre-departure information. We encourage all students who do not have a valid passport to apply for a passport as soon as possible!

Costa Rica Tour FAQ
How was I selected for this tour?
Tour invite lists are a competitive selection process. We select conference statistical leaders, all-conference honorees, and coach recommendations.
Who will be my tour coach?
Beyond Sports is proud of our incredible network of college coaches that join our international trips as tour coaches! All tour coaches are current college coaches and will be announced in Spring 2024.
How will I travel to Costa Rica?
Tour participants are responsible for arranging their own air travel to and from Costa Rica. If you’re interested in coordinating your travel plans with other tour students, please contact our staff to be connected with your tour teammates.
What do the international travel days look like?
Arrival Day. Tour participants should aim to arrive at the San Jose (SJO) airport by the afternoon of June 20th. Our program staff will greet you upon arrival and help transfer you to the hotel. We encourage you to plan accordingly so you arrive on time and can attend orientation.
Departure Day. Students will be transferred to the San Jose (SJO) airport on the morning of June 28th.
