Japan | Tokyo & Kyoto

Tour Details

Per Person Cost

$4,495 (+$600 for a Single Occupancy Room, optional)

Included

  • Nine nights lodging accommodations​ (5 nights in Tokyo and 4 nights in the Kyoto)​

  • Breakfast daily and three additional group meals

  • All transportation while in Japan*

  • Three friendly exhibition games against local club teams

  • All excursions outlined in the trip itinerary (below)

  • Beyond Sports t-shirt and uniform top​

  • International health insurance

  • 24/7 In-Country Staff Support

*Airport transfers are included and arranged for students who arrive and depart on the designated days. If students wish to extend their stay on either end of the trip, they are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the hotel.

Eligibility

This is an invitation-only tour. We are looking for the top athletes in collegiate softball. If you would like to be considered for an invitation, please complete our Tour Application.

Capacity

This tour is capped at 18 student-athletes. Roster spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Accommodations

All overnight stays are in 3- and 4-star accommodations. Participants will share a room with 1-2 other travelers, however, every participant will have their own bed.

Payment

A $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot. Additional payments will be paid in a series of installments:
 

  • Due at Registration - $250

  • March 15th - 50% of Remaining Balance

  • May 1st - Final Balance

The deposit deadline is February 15th, 2026.

  • Round-trip airfare

  • Lunch & dinners outside of the three group meals - enjoy the freedom to explore local dining options on your own!

  • Personal expenses (i.e. souvenirs and snacks)​

  • Tips for local tour guides, optional

  • Passport/visa and baggage fees, if applicable​

  • Trip cancellation/interruption insurance, optional

  • Card fees for program payments, if applicable

Tour Itinerary

June 8 - Travel Day

Travel day! Because of time zone differences, if you are traveling from the US, you will need to depart on June 8th to arrive to Japan on June 9th.


June 9 - Tokyo
Welcome to Tokyo! Connect with Beyond Sports staff at Haneda (HND) airport and transfer to the hotel. Settle in, attend trip orientation, and enjoy the welcome dinner with your new teammates.


June 10 - Tokyo

Begin the day with a morning practice session to connect with your team. Spend the afternoon exploring Tokyo’s bustling streets, and end the day immersed in the teamLab Borderless experience.

June 11 - Tokyo

Start your morning at the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing before enjoying free time to discover Tokyo’s incredible food scene. In the afternoon, visit a sumo training session, followed by Game #1 in the evening.


June 12 - Tokyo

Venture beyond the city on a day trip to Nikko, a town of natural beauty and deep tradition. Explore UNESCO World Heritage sites like Toshogu Shrine and Rinnoji Temple, and take in views of Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji.

June 13 - Kyoto

Board the bullet train to Kyoto, one of Japan’s most historic and culturally rich cities. Enjoy the high-speed journey through scenic landscapes before settling into your new surroundings.

June 14 - Kyoto

Discover Kyoto’s charm in the morning as you stroll through the Gion District, known for its geisha culture. Later, join a hands-on ramen making class before Game #2 in the evening.

June 15 - Kyoto

Step in to serenity as your explore the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and visit the Golden Pavilion, a treasured site of Kyoto.

June 16 - Kyoto

Take a day trip to Osaka, a lively port city known for its modern skyline and mouthwatering street food.

June 17 - Tokyo

Travel back to Tokyo by bullet train for your final day in Japan. Spend time exploring and picking up last-minute souvenirs before Game #3 in the evening.

June 18 - Departure Day

Travel day! Depart from Haneda airport (HND) in Tokyo with friendships and memories to last a lifetime! 

The final itinerary may change slightly based on the confirmed game schedule.

Who can join the tour as a fan?

Family members, friends, and supporters of our college-level athletes are welcome to join as fans! If you want to share in the experience, cheer from the sidelines, and travel with the team, you can register to experience every part of the journey alongside your athlete.

What are the fans included in?

As a registered fan, you’ll participate in all aspects of the tour alongside your athlete. This includes attending games, joining group activities, exploring the local culture, and enjoying free time together. By joining us, you’ll share the full experience, from team gatherings to cultural excursions.

What are the benefits of registering as a fan, as opposed to planning my own travel?

Registering as a fan takes the hassle out of travel. As a registered fan, all logistics are covered, including transportation, accommodations, and planned excursions. You won’t have to worry about separate bookings or missing out on team activities. Plus, you’ll have the chance to meet and connect with other fans who share your passion, creating a fun, supportive community along the way!

Accept Your Invitation

If you received an invitation from your coach, you can accept your invite and begin registration. If you did not receive an invite, but are interested in joining the tour, please complete our tour application.

2.
Register & Deposit

When you are ready to commit to the tour, submit your $250 deposit to reserve your spot. The full cost of the tour is not due immediately. Payment deadlines are outlined above and in registration.

3.
Begin Travel Prep

Once deposited, your tour coordinator will connect with you to share pre-departure information. We encourage all students who do not have a valid passport to apply for a passport as soon as possible!

How was I selected for this tour?
Tour invite lists are a competitive selection process. We select conference statistical leaders, all-conference honorees, and coach recommendations.

Who will be my tour coach?
Beyond Sports is proud of our incredible network of college coaches that join our international trips as tour coaches! All tour coaches are current college coaches. We announce our tour coaches in the Spring.

How will I travel to Japan?
Tour participants are responsible for arranging their own air travel to and from Japan. If you’re interested in coordinating your travel plans with other tour students, please contact our staff to be connected with your tour teammates.


What do the international travel days look like?
Arrival Day - Tour participants should aim to arrive at the Tokyo-Haneda (HND) airport by the evening of June 9th. Our tour staff will greet you upon arrival and help transfer you to the hotel. We encourage you to plan accordingly so you arrive on time and can attend your team orientation and the welcome dinner.

Departure Day - Students will be transferred to the Tokyo-Haneda (HND) airport on the morning of June 18th. 

Note: More specific flight booking information will be shared with you after you complete registration.


Can a family member or teammate travel with me?
Yes! We encourage our student-athletes to have friends and family join them for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Scroll up to find access to our Fan Registration.
