Erin Norris, Program Coordinator

Hello! My name is Erin and I will be your main point of contact leading up to the South Africa Soccer Tour. Having spent the last 5 years with Beyond in Costa Rica, I am so excited to offer this program in Cape Town for soccer players! We launched our first programs in South Africa in 2016 and they were an incredible experience for our student-athletes! Cape Town is unlike any other city in the world with it's culture, history, once in a lifetime excursions and service-learning opportunities.

Please reach out to me with any questions about tour! I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Day 1: Depart the U.S. with the group from the hub city (LAX, or JFK).

Day 2: Travel day.

Day 3: Arrival in Cape Town, South Africa; known as the Mother City, it is the oldest city in South Africa. Welcome dinner and orientation session in the evening!

Day 4: Morning practice with the team followed by an afternoon soccer clinic for local youth.

Day 5: Tour Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years before becoming the first democratically elected president. Have lunch on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Play Game #1 against a top local club team.

Day 6: Visit the Castle of Good Hope and District Six Museum. Play Game #2 in the evening.

Day 7: Spend the day hiking to the top of Table Mountain- one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature- to see beautiful panoramic views of Cape Town!

Days 8, 9, 10 & 11: Depart Cape Town and travel along the world famous Garden Route, spending 3 nights in Wilderness; a quiet beach town with white sand beaches. We’ll visit the Garden Route Game Lodge for a guided safari and the chance to see the iconic big game animals of Africa. The next day will be open to relax on the beach, hike through Wilderness National Park, or schedule other private excursions. We will return to Cape Town on Day 11.

Day 12: Host our second service-learning clinic for local youth. Play Game #3 against a local club team in the evening followed by a traditional Lamb Roast Spit Braai (BBQ)!

Day 13: Departure Day. The group will return to the U.S. on Day 14.

Over the last six years of operating international experiences for thousands of college athletes, we've learned that parents typically have two questions:

1) Will my son/daughter be safe while abroad?

2) Can I come?

Our top concern at all times is student safety during our trips. In an effort to help make you as comfortable as possible before and during your student's experience abroad, we encourage you to set up a time to discuss safety with one of our Program Directors. Also, if you'd like to speak with the parent of a past participant, we'd be happy to facilitate that connection.
