Lacrosse Tour Details

Location: Spain
Dates: Jul. 30th - Aug. 7th, 2024
Total: $3995

Included

  • Eight nights lodging accommodations​ (4 nights in Barcelona and 4 nights in Valencia)

  • Three meals, daily
     

  • All transportation while in Spain, including a private charter bus for all tour activities

  • Six lacrosse training sessions––this includes training sessions with U.S. college coaches, mixed training sessions with local club teams, mixed games with local club teams (U.S. and Spanish athletes combined together), friendly games against local club teams (U.S. v Spain)

  • Three leadership development workshops led by current collegiate coaches

  • At least one community service activity

  • All excursions outlined in the trip itinerary
     

  • Beyond Sports t-shirt and uniform top

  • International health insurance

Not Included

  • Round-trip airfare to Barcelona

 

  • Personal expenses (i.e. souvenirs and snacks)​

  • Passport and baggage fees, if applicable​

  • Trip cancellation/interruption insurance (optional)

Accommodations

All overnights are in 3 or 4-star accommodations. Participants will share a room with another traveler, however, every participant will have their own bed.

Capacity

This tour is capped at 24 student-athletes and will have two rosters. Rosters spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Interested athletes are encouraged to deposit as soon as they are ready in order to guarantee their spot on the tour.

Payment

A $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot for the tour. The remaining balance is paid in a series of installments. The deposit deadline is May 15th, 2024.

Tour Itinerary

July 29 - Travel Day

If you are traveling from the US, you will need to depart from the US on July 29th in order to arrive in Spain on July 30th.

 

July 30 - Barcelona

Arrive to Barcelona Airport (BCN)! Our High School Tour Coordinator will be there waiting for you. You will be shuttled to the hotel for check-in followed by a health and safety orientation, our first team practice, and a welcome dinner.


July 31 - Barcelona

Guided tour of Barcelona including the Gaudi Houses, Port Olympic and the Gothic Quarter. Afternoon practice followed by a self-guided tour of Camp Nou stadium––home to the FC Barcelona professional soccer team. Evening leadership session led by your tour coaches


August 1 - Valencia

Morning bus transfer to Valencia. Hotel check-in and team-building activity. Evening game vs. local club team. 

August 2 - Valencia

Morning beach walk followed by a paella cooking workshop––a rice dish that originated in the Valencia, Spain. Afternoon mixed practice with local lacrosse players and evening leadership session.


August 3 - Valencia

City bike tour through the City of Arts & Sciences and an afternoon at Oceanogràfic València––Europe's largest aquarium, which boasts 15 different habitats that are home to a variety of marine life from the Beluga Whales of the Arctic to the Gentoo Penguins of the Antarctic. Evening competition against a local Spanish club. 

August 4 - Valencia

Enjoy free time to shop for souvenirs in Valencia's city center before heading to the fields to participate in a service-learning activity. This opportunity will allow you to try on a coaching hat and put your leadership skills to use by running drills and coaching games during our lacrosse clinic for local youth. Practice session in the evening.

August 5 - Barcelona

Morning bus departure for Barcelona. Stop along the way in Tarragona on the beautiful Costa Dorada in the Catalonia region. Afternoon visit to the famed Sagrada Familia followed by our last competition and leadership development session. 

August 6 - Barcelona

Visit Park Guell and then enjoy free time and souvenir shopping in the Gothic Quarter. Head back to the hotel to get ready for evening dance lessons, Flamenco style! Lessons will be followed by dinner and a Flamenco show.

August 7 - Travel Day

Say our goodbyes as we head to Barcelona Airport for a full day of travel back to the U.S.A. 

 

Please understand that the final itinerary may change slightly based on the confirmed game schedule. We will do our best to follow this exact itinerary.

Leadership Curriculum

The leadership workshops in our high school lacrosse itinerary are adapted from our sports leadership program, the Girls Leadership Academy for Service & Sport (GLASS).

Hosted in Costa Rica, this 10-day leadership intensive program is designed for high school female athletes from all sports.

Molly is a Beyond Sports High School Tour Coordinator. She is also the assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.

Tour Coach

Next Steps

Accept Your Invitation

If you received an invitation via email you can accept your invite to begin registration. If you did not receive an invite, but you are interested in joining the tour, please complete our tour application.

2.
Register & Deposit

When you are ready to commit to the tour, submit your $250 deposit to reserve your spot. The full cost of the tour is not due immediately. Payment deadlines are outlined in registration.

3.
Begin Travel Prep

Once deposited, your tour coordinator will connect with you to share pre-departure information. We encourage all students who do not have a valid passport to apply for a passport as soon as possible!

Spain Tour FAQ

How was I selected for this tour?
We reach out to high school and club coaches across the country in search of the top performers and leaders in high school girls lacrosse. Any students who did not receive an invitation are welcome to apply for the tour.

Can a family member travel with me?
Family members are welcome to accompany you to Spain! We offer a Fan Tour Package for accompanying travelers. Our Fan Tour takes place separately, but concurrently, with our High School Lacrosse Tour. Highlights of the Fan Tour include:

  • Lodging at nearby hotels

  • Select group meals

  • Guided tours of some of Spain's iconic sites

  • An opportunity to spectate the exhibition games

  • In-country transportation

How many students-athletes will travel with me?
Our high school tours typically ranges from 12-24 students. 

How will I travel to Spain?
Tour participants are responsible for arranging their own air travel to and from Spain. We provide detailed flight booking instructions in the pre-departure process.

 

If you’re interested in coordinating your travel plans with other tour students, please contact our staff to be connected with your tour teammates.

 

Who will meet me at the airport in Spain?

Our Beyond Sports staff will be waiting for you at the airport in Spain. Once you connect with our team in Spain, our staff and tour coaches will stay with you through the duration of the program.
